The following resources were compiled by leveraging an abundant network of partners, professionals, and practitioners. We value the role risk plays in personal and organizational growth, and, through failures and successes, we hope to help more people have fulfilling, dignified lives. Through a lens of a “pro-participation and anti-perfection” we are happy to present this robust, ever-growing list of resources:
Family Support Network of Central NC
FSN provides support, education, and caring connections to those who have a child with a disability, special healthcare needs or who have experienced a NICU stay.
North Carolina Family Navigation Guide
Parenting a child can be one of life’s greatest joys and biggest responsibilities. There are many resources in your community that can help your family and children to be their best- whether through healthcare, childcare, or simply connecting with other families.
NC Waiver Action Team
The Triad I/DD Advisory has taken on the Registry of Unmet Needs for the Innovation Waiver as their singular project.
Parent Advocates for Adult Children with Intellectual Disabilities
PACID is a grassroots organization of over 200 families with adult children who seek to move their adult child with an I/DD into a space of their own in the coming months and years.
Local Management Entity / Managed Care Organization
These LME / MCOs help facilitate Medicaid services (Innovations Waiver, 1915i Waiver) in North Carolina – working with both providers and consumers. This is a common way for how families get services and access to state funding and resources.
Adult Basic Literacy Education Program at Alamance Community College
ABLE offers free courses to adults with I/DD who are interested in being in a college classroom setting.

A program for students with intellectual disabilities who are interested in furthering their education.
Guilford Technical Community College’s POWER Pathways
The Providing Opportunities for Workforce and Education Review program serves students with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. POWER classes are focused on improving basic reading, math, computer and writing skills, as well as employability skills and career preparation.
NC DHHS Vocational Rehabilitation
The Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services (DVRS) helps people with disabilities achieve their goals for employment and independence.
Compass Greensboro
Compass Greensboro is part of the Chez Genèse family and includes two arms: Vocational Programming & Business Classes.

They provide 24/7, free and confidential support for people in distress, prevention and crisis resources for you or your loved ones, and best practices for professionals in the United States.
Crisis Solutions North Carolina
An initiative of the NC Department of Health & Human Services – Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse Services.
Trillium Health
Trillium Health Resources is a Managed Care Organization (MCO) that manages serious mental health, substance use, traumatic brain injury, and intellectual/developmental disability services in North Carolina.

Special Olympics of North Carolina
Special Olympics North Carolina is one of the largest Special Olympics programs in the world with nearly 40,000 registered athletes who train and compete in year-round programs in 20 different sports.
Achieving a Better Life Experience
ABLE accounts can help designated beneficiaries pay for qualified disability expenses. Distributions are tax-free if used for qualified disability expenses.
Adaptive and Inclusive Recreation
The mission of the Adaptive and Inclusive Recreation (AIR) Section of the Parks and Recreation Departments is to provide recreation services for individuals of all abilities.
