RISE & SHINE
Peacehaven began piloting a job-preparedness program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the summer of 2019.
According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, adults with I/DD searching for a job face a 77.5 percent unemployment rate, despite their desire and ability to work.
In order to provide opportunity, strengthen skills, and build connections, Peacehaven launched, “Julian & Friends” which blossomed into R.I.S.E. (Reaching Interdependence, Skills, & Employment) and has grown again with the addition of SH.I.N.E. (SHaring In New Experiences) in 2025.
R.I.S.E. and SH.I.N.E. is a 20 week, 5 days per week program offering Supported Employment (SE) and Community Living and Supports (CLS) services through the NC 1915(i) waiver to nonresidents of Peacehaven who are eligible to participate in Trillium Health Resources Tailored Plan.
